Mission

The Student Leadership Councils mission is to promote the educational experience at Gulf Coast Trades Center both individually and collectively through role-modeling, peer counseling, and program change recommendations.

Dynamics

The Council will have 10 members with each shop and the work experience program being represented. Students must be enrolled at the Center for 45 days to be eligible for a position on the council. Shop representatives will serve on the Council until their transition to the work experience program. Students wishing to be considered for a council position must complete a membership application, which includes all appropriate signatures. The Council will choose new council members from the applications. The Council will make decisions about council members that are not fulfilling their expectations. Council members that do not have a level 3 or 4 will be suspended pending a council decision on their status. There will be one scheduled meeting on the first Tuesday of each month accompanied by a recreational activity during that week. Meetings may be called throughout the month as needed.
